Each original starts off with an MDF panel, covered with three layers of gesso. Then, multiple layers of paint are put down for the painting itself, first with underpainting, then each subsequent layer offering more detail. In the creative process, there is significant pentimenti. Sometimes the acrylic is finished with oil paint in parts. The final painting is covered with a separation gel and then an archival varnish.

Most originals have descriptive poetry on the back of the panel.
